Best Tips For Selling Your Home #1

I thought I would write a series of posts on the best tips for getting your house ready to sell. So lets start this series off with UPGRADING YOUR HOME.

Selling Secret #1: Don’t Over-Upgrade
There a a lot of quick fixes you can do before selling your home that can really pay off. The big makeovers, not always so much. Quite often you won’t get your money back if you do a big improvement project before you put your house on the market. A few quick updates that will pay off and get you more money are; a new fresh coat of paint on the walls, neutral colours work best. You may think this shouldn’t matter and people should just look past the paint, but you would be surprised how many people can’t and all they see is work and that their furniture doesn’t match. Wash the curtains or go buy some inexpensive new ones that are a little more updated. Remove and replace the door handles, cabinet hardware, make sure closet doors are working properly, repair leaky faucets and clean the grout.
Some homes do need much more than these little quick fixes and it’s always a good idea to call a Real Estate Representative of your choice to come in and guide you through that process. They know what is selling in your area and what people are saying about homes they’ve been in before that turned them away from buying.
