Emergency Winter Driving Kit

There are many reasons we can get stuck in our vehicles. Especially during a storm or super cold days.
Be prepared when you might find you are stuck in your car or truck for a while with an Emergency Winter Kit.
There is nothing worse than being stuck in your vehicle in the middle of winter.
If you've ever been stuck, you know how scary it can be if you're not prepared.
Even if you are able to get a hold of a tow truck, sometimes it could be hours before they get to you.
Be prepared in case you get stuck or end up stranded somewhere in your vehicle.
What you should include for a Winter Vehicle Emergency Kit?
Always have winter safety and emergency equipment in your car. A basic car kit should contain the following:

  • Food that won't spoil, such as energy bars and mixed nuts are great to keep you alert and not hungry.
  • Water—plastic bottles that won't break if the water freezes (replace them every six months)
  • A warm blanket, if you have more than you in the vehicle, make sure it's big enough for everyone, or include a few smaller ones.
  • Extra clothing and shoes or boots
  • First aid kit with something to cut a seatbelt if you need to
  • Small shovel, scraper and snowbrush
  • Candle in a deep can and matches or lighter
  • Wind-up flashlight
  • Whistle—in case you need to attract attention
  • Roadmaps in case you don't get a signal on your phone

Items to keep in your trunk:

  • Sand, salt or cat litter (non-clumping)
  • Antifreeze and windshield washer fluid
  • Tow rope
  • Jumper cables
