There are several types of homes available – there are a few categories but condominium or freehold are the most common.
Condominium can be a townhouse or apartment and the interior of each unit belongs to you and the outer portion of the unit is part of the common elements. The common elements include the building, and land on which the condominium has been built. There are condo fees and they vary with each condominium corporation depending on the by-laws that apply. Speak with your real estate agent to obtain all the details of each condominium unit you are interested in purchasing. Usually, taxes are not included in the condominium fees.
Freehold properties can be either stand alone aka detached, semi-detached or row housing. You own both the building and the land that the house stands on. You are responsible to maintain, insure and protect your property. When you maintain your property the value will appreciate yearly and you will be building equity in your investment.
Before you invest in either types of properties, let's talk and find out which one is best for your budget and needs. Irene Bilinski 613-858-1151
