It’s all in the details. When you are selling your home it’s not always the big changes that make a difference, sometimes it’s the little things too that get your home sold. The attraction for a potential buyer doesn’t always start when they are in your home, it starts before they even get to the door.
Here’s an example of what I’m talking about: I was looking at my brother’s house that I will be listing shortly and while standing in the driveway there were a few items that caught my eye:
- Nice light fixtures BUT the house number is old (brass) – I will be suggesting new bold black numbers
- Door handle – old (brass) – some suggestion new black ones
- Nice new door mat
- Wash the doors and windows so that they gleam
There’s still a lot of snow so my next visit will include getting the gardens ready.
Sometimes we live with things for so long we lose perspective because, well it’s our home and it was just fine for us.
