I’ve seen this happen believe it or not. A new home buyer wants to put an offer on a home and include something like your chandelier. It can be because the chandelier is perfect for that spot or it is so unusual the new buyer wants to include it in the sale. You on the other hand also love this chandelier. It could be because it was the first thing you bought for your home and you have the perfect spot for it in your new home. It could be because a parent had it before you so it holds a lot of sentimental value to you. What ever the reason, you don’t want it to be part of the purchase of your home.
It doesn’t happen often but it happens. The new buyer really wants that chandelier and will make it part of the agreement to purchase. You have two options available to you. You can list anything in the description of the home for sale of items that will not be included in the sale. Or to make it even easier, replace that chandelier with a new one. By choosing this option then you don’t have to worry about it being an issue in the offer to buy and you are guaranteed to take it with you.
I only mentioned a chandelier but this can also be a factor for custom drapes and other items in your home. So if you are able to pack it away and by doing this it doesn’t diminish the value or look of a space, then do that right away before you start to show it. If you are not able to pack it up prior to the sale of your home, make sure your Real Estate Agent knows and lists that these items are not to be included in the sale of the home.
When working with me, you will get the best offer on your home that all parties are happy with. Don’t lose a good offer over something that can be fixed from the start.
